This station revamped its format to feature swing music, torch songs, and standards. Ironically, this music has come full-circle and is now hip again in such venues as Woody Allen films. Their current play list taps a wide vein of music, from Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday to Rod Stewart, Harry Connick, Jr, Julie London, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, k.d.lang and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy.

The golden voice of Gary Owens can be found here from 1-4 PM, and Daisy Torme helms evening drive.

KLAC is also the radio home of the Los Angeles Lakers. They provide a Web stream, powered by Liquid Compass, which purports to be cross-platform for Linux and Mac as well as Windows users. We've verified that it works on the Mac, a vast sonic improvement over what you'll hear on AM radio, I might add. Note, however, that they are not allowed by their agreement with the Lakers to stream Lakers games. (MM)
